I’ve previously done some live streaming both with YouTube and Twitch, which I’ve always enjoyed. But I’ve never committed to it, that being at least once a week, or YouTube really, which I’m also planning on committing too. Of course I need to make a choice regarding the best day of the week to play. To keep up a consistent streaming date. I’m thinking either Friday or Saturday night will be the best days to stream, largest viewer base on the weekend.
Live Streaming VOD to YouTube
Along with streaming on YouTube I’ll have the VODs uploaded on YouTube, released on the Sunday. As Sunday is quietest day in regard to YouTube. As I don’t want to spam content to my channel, especially previous content viewers may have already seen. Though the plan is to stream to all three main platforms, Youtube, Twitch and Facebook. Performed with a raspberry pi and NGinx streaming to multiple locations using this guide. I’m doing this because each platform seems to cater to different audiences, which I hope will increase the potential reach of Insidific. Facebook for example which is rather new offers more exposure to the more “ordinary” internet user. Someone who wouldn’t necessarily watch a YouTube video or Twitch live-stream. But may come across my stream if one of there friends likes/comments on it, like me on Facebook here.
I’ll also be making use of NodeCG
So essentially NodeCG allows me to use graphics while streaming, well at least more professional graphics when I stream. Base templates already developed with the NodeCG framework. Can be used to develop my overlay rather than starting from zero. So over the next few weeks I’ll be developing a simple overlay and developing it as I go.
So there’s plenty for me to do, but I’m looking forward to be getting back into streaming. A fun pass time for me to focus on. Make sure you’re following me on Facebook, YouTube and Twitch.
